A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Joy Otieno, has tragically died at a Kitengela daycare, leading to the arrest of the facility's owner.

• The child, Joy Otieno, died approximately three hours after being dropped off at Blessed Child Day Care on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
• The day care owner has been arrested by Kitengela Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers and is being held at Kitengela Police Station.
• A post-mortem revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, with suspicions of foul play due to aspirated food in the lungs, which is unusual without certain medications.
