Former Kirinyaga Senator Daniel Karaba, 78, was laid to rest on Wednesday, April 1, in a ceremony attended by prominent political leaders, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta and ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

• Karaba, a former teacher and principal, served as a Member of Parliament for Kirinyaga Central (2002-2007) and Senator for Kirinyaga County (2013-2017).
• Key attendees included former President Uhuru Kenyatta, ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi, and James Orengo.
• During the burial, Rigathi Gachagua pledged to unify the Mt Kenya region under an opposition alliance and accused President William Ruto of attempting to divide it.
