Preparations are accelerating for Wajir County to host this year's Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1, marking the first time the event will be held in the Northern Frontier region.

• The main stadium is 28 per cent complete, with a total government allocation of Sh900 million for its construction.
• Internal Security and National Administration PS Raymond Omollo, chair of the Steering Committee on National Celebrations, expressed satisfaction with the progress but urged for increased speed.
• Key supporting infrastructure, including Wajir International Airport, road networks, security, and accommodation, are also being upgraded.
