Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has explained a 5-day water disruption affecting over 100 estates, attributing it to essential infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the city's water supply system.

• The disruption began on April 6 and impacts numerous areas, including parts of the Nairobi CBD.
• Key organizations involved are the County Government of Nairobi, Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, and the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA).
• This planned shutdown of the Northern Collector Tunnel 1 (NCT1) system is to complete works linking the Kigoro Water Treatment Plant to the Gigiri and Kabete reservoirs.
