The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has appointed Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Oketch as its Acting Director General, following the recent resignation of Daniel Kiptoo.

• Dr. Oketch brings over 25 years of experience in Kenya's energy sector, previously serving as EPRA’s Director in charge of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
• This appointment comes in the wake of resignations and arrests of several top energy officials, including Daniel Kiptoo, Joe Sang (Kenya Pipeline Company MD), and Mohamed Liban (Petroleum PS), over alleged falsification of fuel stock levels.
• The allegations involve creating a fuel crisis to facilitate the procurement of an emergency shipment at an inflated price and of substandard quality.
