Nairobi and surrounding counties will experience a five-day water outage starting Tuesday, April 7, 2026, due to crucial upgrades on the Northern Collector Tunnel (NCT) Bulk Water System by the Athi Water Works Development Agency.

• The interruption, scheduled from 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, aims to facilitate installation and strengthening work on vital water transmission pipelines.
• The Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) is undertaking these works.
• The NCT system, a critical infrastructure, supplies approximately 140 million litres of water daily to Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kajiado, and Machakos counties, affecting various water and sewerage companies.
