Unrest has escalated in Siaya County's Gem–Ramula area, resulting in houses being torched and numerous police injuries amid protests against alleged evictions by Shanta Gold Limited. The situation has fractured the community, with retaliatory attacks occurring.

• Approximately 47 officers sustained injuries during an attack on Ramula Police Post, where seven police vehicles were also vandalised and surveillance equipment destroyed.
• Tensions were reportedly fuelled by the presence of Shanta Gold Limited officials conducting data validation for a resettlement programme, despite existing court orders halting forced evictions.
