A Kenya National Gender and Corruption Survey 2025 revealed that magistrates received the highest average bribe in Kenya at Sh164,367, while police officers were involved in the most frequent corruption encounters. The survey showed that 41.1 percent of urban residents paid bribes to speed up services, significantly higher than rural counterparts. Kakamega County recorded the highest average bribe rates in Kenya at Sh79,305. Police officers and civil registration officials were found to be at the forefront of corruption cases, with cash bribes being the dominant method. Women and single individuals were also found more likely to pay bribes than their male and married counterparts.
