Twenty-six Kenyans have been arrested in India for allegedly attempting to smuggle approximately 29.4 kilograms of gold valued at Ksh525 million (377 million Indian Rupees).

• The arrests were made at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
• India's Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted the operation based on intelligence and digital profiling.
• Most of the detained individuals are elderly women suspected of being part of a coordinated smuggling network.
