Zanzibar police have arrested 10 people for spreading false claims of genital theft, which have fueled panic and led to mob violence on the Islands. The arrests occurred between April 4 and April 9 in various locations.

• 10 suspects were detained for falsely alleging their genitals were stolen.
• The Regional Police Commander, Mr Richard Mchonvu, warned against the baseless rumors and associated violence.
• Incidents involved accusations leading to assaults and property destruction, with medical examinations confirming no physical loss of genitals, and one complainant identified as having a mental health condition.
