An incident of protocol breach occurred at a funeral in Kabarak when Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura reportedly refused to give up his seat for a Cabinet Secretary.

• The incident happened at the burial of Mitchell Jelimo Kemboi, daughter of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director William Ruto.
• Trade Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen was heard telling Mwaura, "Mwaura, achia Waziri akae hapo" (Mwaura, let the minister have the seat).
• This is not the first time Mwaura has been involved in a protocol-related embarrassment, recalling an incident in August 2025 regarding access to a VIP entrance.
