Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to expedite investigations into escalating goonism and politically-driven violence across Kenya.

• The directive follows a series of violent incidents, including disruptions at a rally attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Kikuyu Constituency and an assault on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
• Murkomen stated that the Inspector General has full authority to deal with any political leader sponsoring violence, emphasizing that "the greatest threat to national security is not the citizens, it is those who are wearing suits and are seeking high offices."
• Recent chaos also marred events in Kakamega and was alleged during an opposition rally in Kajiado, with both sides trading accusations of state involvement in political intimidation.
