The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has initiated the process to dual the 20-kilometre Kimwanga–Kimaeti–Malaba Section of A8 Road, a crucial upgrade for the northern corridor. This project aims to significantly improve traffic flow and regional connectivity between Bungoma and Busia counties.

• The project is funded through Development Votes, with an allocation of Ksh15 million in 2024, supplemented by an additional Ksh13.6 million.
• The key organization involved is the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA).
• This dualling project will facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers, boosting the economy of the Western Kenya region and improving export capabilities to neighboring countries like Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC.
