A land dispute has erupted in Kilifi County over a 22-acre parcel granted in 1904 to the Church Missionary Trust Association, now managed by the Anglican Church of Kenya. The Church is in court to protect its possession of the land where St Luke’s Hospital has operated for nearly a century.

• A community group, led by Kasimu Dume, demanded the Church vacate the land, claiming the 99-year lease expired and its 2023 renewal was illegal.
• The Church Commissioners for Kenya sued to prevent alleged hostile invasion and interference with their title.
• The Environment and Land Court granted an interlocutory injunction to the Church, restraining defendants from interfering with the property pending the full hearing.
