Kenya's government has officially incorporated two new annual events into its national calendar for 2026: the Ocean Conference and Minorities Day. These additions aim to strengthen national identity and nationhood by commemorating significant occasions under designated themes and in specific counties.

The Ocean Conference – Kenya is scheduled for June 16-18 in Mombasa and Kilifi, while Minorities Day will be observed on December 18 in Marsabit.
The initiative is driven by a directive from the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.
Events will be coordinated by the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, Dennis Itumbi, in collaboration with relevant government bodies.
