Teachers in Meru County are threatening to disrupt learning from April 27 due to unresolved payment delays for national examinations and issues with the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Teachers contracted by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) are owed overdue payments for marking and supervising exams from November and December.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), represented by Executive Secretary Morris Njira, is leading the protest.
Concerns also include insufficient coverage under the new SHA outpatient cap and demands for permanent employment of intern teachers.
