A father in Muthara, Meru County, is believed to have poisoned his two young children with yoghurt and fatally assaulted them before taking his own life. The tragic incident occurred on April 10, 2026.

• The children, Rayvan Baraka (8) and Nova Jay (3), tragically succumbed to poisoning and head injuries.
• The perpetrator has been identified as their father, David Mwenda, a 32-year-old boda boda rider.
• Mwenda had separated from his wife due to marital disputes and was reportedly facing financial distress following a broken leg injury that prevented him from working.
