The Narok County government has vehemently denied claims that international tourists were unlawfully detained at the Muthu Keekorok Lodge in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The Narok County Government issued a statement on April 23, calling the allegations by MGM Muthu Hotels "false, inaccurate, and alarmist."
The disruption was clarified to stem from a labour dispute between lodge management and workers, not a property dispute as suggested by the hotel company.
Narok County confirmed that tourists are safe, have freedom to enter and leave, and are under the protection of county rangers and the Tourism Police Unit.
