Kenyan runner Sabastian Sawe made history at the London Marathon on Sunday, April 26, by becoming the first man to officially break the two-hour barrier in a legitimate race, clocking an astonishing 1:59:30.

• Sawe's new world record shattered the previous mark of 2:00:35 set by the late Kelvin Kiptum in October 2023.
• The historic achievement marks the first time in 24 years that the London Marathon course has hosted a world record.
• Ethiopian debutant Yomif Kejelcha also impressed, finishing second in 1:59:41, the second-fastest time ever recorded and an Ethiopian National Record.
