The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has condemned "hateful utterances" and, in collaboration with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), arrested an aspiring politician, Bare Sahara Ahmed, from Garissa County.

• Bare Sahara Ahmed was arrested following the circulation of a viral video allegedly containing remarks that could incite division and undermine national cohesion.
• The NCIC and DCI are working together to uphold the law against hate speech, emphasizing that freedom of expression is not absolute and does not protect incitement to violence.
• Ahmed has been arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts and granted a 10-day custodial order at Kilimani Police Station as investigations continue.
