Two men have been granted a 14-day detention order in Vihiga as investigations continue into their alleged possession of an illegal firearm. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrests and dismissed claims of police inaction.

• Two suspects, identified as Evans Otieno Ongere and Abel Onyango Owuor, were arrested with a Phantom pistol.
• The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is handling the case and forensic analysis of the firearm.
• In a separate incident, a third suspect, Christopher Okello, was rescued from a mob and charged with possession of a bow and arrow, pleading not guilty and admitted to a Sh100,000 bond.
