Two police officers have been sentenced to jail for the murder of a suspect in police cells in Nyamira. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) successfully proved the case against them.

Corporal James Ogwagwa Nyakina received a 30-year sentence, while Constable Jackson Kirui Kipngeno was sentenced to 10 years.
The officers were found to have jointly murdered Amos Kemosi Kereri at the Nyamatoki police post on 19th August 2019.
The prosecution presented 14 witnesses to establish that the officers assaulted the deceased after arresting him, leading to his death.
