President William Ruto has announced significant increases to daily allowances for athletes and officials representing Kenya abroad, as well as revised prize money for medal winners.

Daily allowances have been raised to Ksh25,000 for athletes and Ksh38,000 for officials, more than tripling previous amounts.
The announcement was made at Statehouse, Nairobi, during a welcome-home ceremony for world record holder Sebastian Sawe.
The government also plans to establish Constituency Sports Academies and advance the Sports Bill 2026 to strengthen talent development and governance.
