President William Ruto has announced that the Ksh 214 million Itembe Airstrip in Bomet County will be completed and operational by December this year.

The airstrip, undergoing a major rehabilitation by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), will feature a 1,000-meter asphalt runway.
This project aims to boost connectivity, support medical evacuations, and promote local economic activities like tourism and agriculture.
The announcement was made during the burial ceremony of Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, with similar developments also underway at other airstrips in the region.
