Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) is boosting hydropower generation due to high water levels, which is expected to lead to lower electricity costs for consumers.

• On April 28, KenGen's hydro power stations produced 11.7 million kilowatt-hours, exceeding projections and operating near optimal levels.
• KenGen Ag. Managing Director and CEO, Ahmed Issack, stated that strong reservoir levels, averaging about 99% of operating capacity, enable maximizing hydropower generation, the cheapest electricity source.
• KenGen assured downstream communities that robust water management programs are in place to prevent unmanaged flooding risks.
