Kenya's Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) has clarified that employers will only adjust minimum wages, not general wages, following President William Ruto's Labour Day directive.

• The directive for a 12% increase in general wages and a 15% increase for agricultural workers announced by President Ruto will exclusively apply to statutory minimum wages.
• Key figures involved include FKE CEO Jacqueline Mugo and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who had a differing interpretation.
• The FKE emphasized that wages above the legal minimum are determined by employment contracts and collective bargaining agreements and will not be automatically adjusted.
