The Nairobi County Government has inducted a new Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board to enhance regulation and tackle the illegal liquor trade.

• The board comprises senior representatives from the Regional Commissioner’s office, National Police Service, Chief Officer for Public Health, and NACADA.
• Chief Officer for Business and Hustler Opportunities, Lydia Mathia, emphasized the need for a strong foundation and understanding of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act.
• The county intends to differentiate between licensed and unlicensed operators later this year, with strict enforcement actions planned against illegal operations.
