The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is warning the public about a fake job appointment letter scam that falsely claims to offer employment within their Marketing Department.

• The fraudulent letter uses an official-looking letterhead and references internal procedures, but KRA confirms all genuine offers are communicated through verified channels.
• KRA is also intensifying its crackdown on tax evasion, particularly among small businesses using mobile money platforms to conceal income by frequently switching paybill and till numbers.
• New legal proposals in the Finance Bill 2026 aim to grant KRA expanded powers to re-examine transactions and commercial structures to combat tax evasion.
