The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) has issued a strong condemnation against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what they term "unwarranted, reckless, and publicity-seeking attacks" on Kenya's labour movement.

• COTU accused Gachagua of undermining national unity and worker representation with his remarks.
• The union body defended its Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, and dismissed proposals to form an alternative labour organization.
• COTU suggested Gachagua's criticism might stem from recent government announcements, including a 12% general wage increase and a 15% agricultural minimum wage hike, as well as commitments to international labour protections like ILO Convention 189 and 190, which they believe "irritated" him.
