Residents of Laikipia County are experiencing a mix of hope and doubt as the long-standing road crisis affecting the Rumuruti-Mutara-Nanyuki road appears to be nearing a resolution.

• A Sh2.47 billion contract has been awarded by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to WAK Construction to upgrade the Rumuruti-Mutara stretch to bitumen standards.
• The road's poor condition has caused decades of hardship, including economic losses for farmers and delayed access to medical facilities, impacting lives.
• KeNHA Director General Engineer Luka Kimeli stated that mobilization activities have begun, with construction expected to start within three months and take 36 months to complete.
