Professor Ayub Njoroge Gitau is the 9th Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was approved by the University of Nairobi Council during a special meeting on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The university also appointed Josiah Omollo Aduda as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance, Planning and Development.
