The High Court has ordered the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to pay over Sh18 million in debt to two foreign sports management firms, rejecting KBC's plea to delay payment due to budgetary constraints.

• KBC must pay 120,000 Euros (approximately Sh18 million), plus accumulated interest and legal costs, to Optima Sports Management International (UK) Limited and Optima Sports Management International (Nigeria) Limited.
• The debt stems from a breached sports rights contract dating back to 2008.
• The court ruled that budgetary constraints cannot prevent state agencies from honouring valid court decrees, emphasizing the duty of the KBC Managing Director to settle the debt as KBC assets are protected from attachment.
