The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has explained why over 1,000 students with Grade A in the 2025 KCSE examination missed out on medicine placements.

According to KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome, the limited number of Medicine slots, fewer than 1,000 nationwide, compared to over 2,000 students scoring Grade A plain, is the primary reason.
KUCCPS, the placement agency, ensures students are aware of the competitive nature of these courses.
Students scoring below Grade A can still qualify for medicine if they meet minimum subject requirements (at least a B in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English/Kiswahili), but face intense competition for the limited spaces.
