A new report by the Kenya Freedom Index reveals that Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa are among the counties most prone to protests in Kenya.

• Nairobi recorded the highest number of protests with 289 between 2020 and 2025.
• The report identified economic freedom as the leading cause of protests, accounting for 452 cases.
• Over the same period, a total of 1,002 protests were recorded across Kenya, resulting in 138 deaths.
