The County Assembly Forum (CAF) and the Society of Clerks at the Table (SOCATT) face potential closure by the end of this month if they fail to establish a legal framework for their operations within the stipulated timeframe.

• The Senate has given these coordinating bodies for county assemblies three months to anchor their operations in law, following an audit that flagged their payments as unlawful and irregular.
• Senator Moses Kajwang', acting on a report from the County Public Accounts Committee, stated that failure to meet this deadline will result in the immediate cessation of all payments to CAF and SOCATT.
• Several county assemblies have been making annual subscriptions, some up to Sh2.75 million, to these entities despite their lack of legal backing, which is considered a violation of the Public Finance Management Act and the Constitution.
