South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang has been hit with a record $400 million fine for a massive data breach that exposed the personal information of over 30 million customers.

• The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) levied the penalty, totaling 624.6 billion won, for a breach affecting approximately 37.5 million user accounts.
• Coupang, described as South Korea's equivalent of Amazon, intends to challenge the PIPC's decision, stating its explanations were not sufficiently reflected.
• The leak exposed customer names, contact and delivery details, and order histories, with the breach believed to have started in June via a server based abroad.
