A new census reveals a significant drop in Kenya's street population, yet women and girls on the streets face disproportionately higher risks of violence and abuse.

• Street population has decreased to 18,049 from 46,639 in 2018, but 21.4% of this population are women and girls who experience higher rates of violence (41.5% sexual abuse).
• The Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund (SFRTF), in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), conducted the 2025 National Census of Street Families.
• Despite the overall decline, nearly 29% have lived on the streets for over a decade, facing persistent barriers to essential services.
