Rift Valley has recorded the highest seizures of illicit alcohol in Kenya over the last two and a half years, with security agencies confiscating 493,073 litres between January 2024 and May 2026.

• Over 18,000 suspects were arrested in connection with illicit alcohol offenses in the region during this period.
• Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat presented the data to the National Assembly's Public Petitions Committee.
• Despite significant seizures, Lagat noted a decline in numbers, suggesting progress, but cautioned the problem is shifting to other regions.
