Kenya's Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has unveiled the 2026/27 budget, proposing significant allocations aimed at tackling youth unemployment through direct empowerment programs, education, and digital innovation initiatives.

A total of over Sh20 billion is earmarked for direct youth empowerment programs, with the National Youth Service receiving Sh12.5 billion.
CS John Mbadi highlighted that the government is expanding access to financing and enterprise support, with 93,559 youth entrepreneurs receiving loans and 91,253 benefiting from start-up grants.
Education emerged as the largest beneficiary with Sh784.5 billion allocated, supporting student financing, teacher development, and infrastructure, aiming to align skills with labor market demands.
