Kenya is set to introduce dual certification for senior school students, a significant shift from the current Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

• The 1.1 million learners currently in Grade 10 are the first cohort expected to benefit from this new system upon completion of senior school in 2028.
• The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) will oversee the dual certification, which includes an academic certificate and a skills acquisition certificate.
• This initiative aims to recognize both academic achievement and vocational/professional skills, aligning with the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system and addressing skills mismatch in the job market.
