The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) is warning manufacturers to be wary of individuals impersonating its officials. KEBS has provided a verification method for businesses to confirm the identity of those claiming to represent the organization.

• KEBS advises manufacturers to demand official Identification Numbers (ID) and staff numbers, which can be verified by texting the staff number followed by a hash to 20023.
• KEBS Chief Executive Esther Ngari stated that imposters are exploiting the bureau's mandate to extort manufacturers.
• The bureau aims to protect consumers by ensuring products, both locally manufactured and imported, meet Kenyan and international standards.
