Fourteen countries have signed the 'Mombasa Declaration' at the 11th Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa, Kenya, to enhance global fisheries transparency and combat illegal fishing.

• 14 countries from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific adopted the declaration, committing to better data sharing and vessel information to fight Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.
• Key figures involved include President William Ruto, Deputy President Prof Kindiki Kithure, and former US Secretary of State John Kerry, the conference founder.
• The declaration aims to counter IUU fishing's global cost of up to $50 billion annually and protect livelihoods and marine ecosystems.
