Following a massive World Cup celebration that drew over 700,000 people to downtown Mexico City, officials are considering new measures to curb public alcohol consumption.

• More than 40 tonnes of waste were collected after the celebrations.
• Mexico City's government secretary Cesar Cravioto announced plans to control illegal alcohol sales and potentially restrict off-premise alcohol purchases.
• The government also plans to install seven more large screens to disperse crowds and deploy more personnel to manage street vendors selling beer.
