The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has extended office hours and offered new online filing options to help taxpayers meet the 30 June 2026 deadline for annual income tax returns. Despite the extended services, filing online remains the fastest method.

KRA service centres are open from 7am to 7pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on 20 and 27 June, with extended midnight hours on 26 and 30 June.
Taxpayers are reminded that filing a nil return is mandatory even with no income earned, and penalties for missed deadlines are significant.
New systems now validate declared income and expenses against third-party data, making it harder to falsely declare nil returns.
The KRA is promoting its Shuru WhatsApp chatbot as an efficient filing channel, particularly for salaried individuals.
