Kenyan politician Martha Karua was denied entry into Uganda on Monday, June 22, ahead of a crucial bail ruling for opposition leader Kizza Besigye.

• Martha Karua, leader of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), was detained at Entebbe International Airport and ordered to return to Kenya.
• The Uganda Law Society (ULS) condemned the detention as unlawful and a violation of justice.
• The defence team linked the incident to public statements by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, accusing Ugandan authorities of targeting lawyers involved in the opposition's case.
