The Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) has given shipping companies operating in the country a seven-day ultimatum to obtain mandatory registration and operating licences.

• All foreign and local shipping lines must comply with the Merchant Shipping (Maritime Transport Operators) Regulations, 2024.
• Failure to comply by the June 22 notice deadline will result in sanctions and enforcement action.
• This initiative follows heightened oversight, including the response to a grounded cargo vessel, M.V. DAN, off Nyali Beach.
