Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has called for enhanced cross-border cooperation in the Horn of Africa to combat increasingly sophisticated human trafficking and migrant smuggling networks, emphasizing that no single nation can tackle these transnational organized crimes alone.

• The call was made at the opening of a three-day Regional Conference on Counter-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants in Nairobi, attended by delegates from Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and South Sudan.
• Key focus areas for addressing the menace include prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership.
• The conference, part of Phase IV of the Better Migration Management (BMM) Programme implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), aims to produce practical recommendations for improving intelligence sharing and cross-border investigations.
