The Kenyan government has approved a toll charge of Sh8 per kilometre on sections of the upgraded Rironi-Mau Summit Road, which is being constructed by Chinese firms under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

• The toll rate of Sh8 per kilometre applies to the Rironi to Gilgil section (81km) and the Rironi-Mai Mahiu-Nairobi section.
• The Kenya National Highways Authority (KenHa) announced the toll rates.
• China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and Kenya’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) are among the companies involved in the project, which will be operated by the firms for three decades to recoup investments through toll fees.
