The Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary has incorporated a significant number of new words reflecting contemporary usage, including several terms commonly used in Kenya.

• Over 2,000 new words, such as 'chang'aa', 'mabati', 'sub-county', and 'bongo flava', have been added to the lexicon.
• The update was announced by Oxford University Press East Africa during the 49th annual conference of the Kenya Senior Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) in Mombasa.
• The inclusion acknowledges the evolving nature of English and its application across various global contexts, from technology to social issues and regional music genres.
