Kenya and Germany have finalized a deal to expand smallholder irrigation projects in seven counties in western Kenya, aiming to boost agricultural production and farmer incomes.

• Projected annual farmer incomes are expected to increase from Sh12.4 million to Sh45.7 million.
• The agreement was reached during bilateral development talks in Berlin involving delegations led by National Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo and Irrigation Principal Secretary Ephantus Kimotho for Kenya, and Joachim Schmitt from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
• Germany will also provide funding for community engagement, project preparation, and initiatives focused on food security through sustainable and climate-smart agriculture.
